The bakery items are the reason we went back a second time! The ham and cheese croissant was great!! The quiche was not a favorite as it felt fluffy and creamy to me, but I’m not a quiche guru. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is clean. I ordered the mocha and I’ll probably try something else next time because it left something to be desired. Not a changing table for babies in the second bathroom as a heads up!

Our first visit was for takeout, and we instantly regretted not ordering more. The flavors were so fresh, and everything embodied what pastry perfection should be. Delicious, beautifully made, and very reasonably priced. We’ll absolutely be back whenever we’re in MN again

It‘s usually a good sign to find a line of people waiting outside to get in, hence it was in this case too. Worth every second and I would even wait an hour to enter this pastry heaven, in a good friend‘s neighborhood (lucky him). Had and tried many good things in the world, but this gem still had some culinary treasures to hide. Absolutely delicious, sweet and savory, both were great. Unfortunately I ran in to this place on my final day, before heading back east over the big pond again, but I already know where to pop up next time I’m in the twin cities.

Such a cute & cozy coffee shop! We tried the éclair, almond poppy seed cake & an egg croissant sandwich, everything was delicious, flavorful & fresh. The staff was super nice & I loved the ambiance as well!

Best pastries in Minnesota, hands down. Black Walnut lives up to the hype every single time. It does get very busy and they do sell out, so go early if you have your heart set on something specific. Even when it’s packed, service is quick, efficient, and genuinely friendly, which is impressive given the crowds. They have an incredible selection with lots of rotating flavors, so there’s always something new to try. Their croissants and Kouign Amann are absolute standouts. Flaky, buttery, and perfectly executed. The caramel cream cheese brownie is decadent and rich with a perfect flavor combination. The lattes are also delicious and pair perfectly with the pastries. They offer pre packed goodies as well, which are great for grab and go treats or bringing something home. The space itself is bright and welcoming with large windows and natural light, multiple seating options, and a small outdoor seating area when the weather is nice. If you love high quality pastries, Black Walnut is a must. Worth the wait and worth the early alarm.

I came here on a Sunday morning 10 minutes before opening and there was already a line, and for good reason! The pastries here are incredible and i love the wide variety of options. This was my first time coming here and i got the chocolate banana croissant, potato and leek croissant, passionfruit and raspberry kouign amann, and the gingersnap banana pudding. All of them were wonderful. My favorite was definitely the potato leek croissant, as savory pastries are my weakness! I loved trying a kouign amann that had a twist to it, the passionfruit and raspberry really made it unique. I definitely will be coming back again.

This place was amazing! Some of the best baked goods I have had in a while. They have an amazing variety of crossaints and laminated treats, and their coffee was also amazing! The serve was outstanding, and they did a good job getting through the line.

My wife and I were in town for the Songkran Festival. We looked up this place for a nice Sunday breakfast. It's everything we wanted and more. The neighborhood had us dreaming of moving. Nice residential areas, pockets of cool businesses like this one, people walking their dogs everywhere. We parked a block away and walked. This place is on the corner, nice big windows. They inside is nice and bright. Good sized seating area and then good line and ordering flow. The staff was very helpful. I just wanted to ogle at all the pastries. We were able to get a table right by the windows and people watch while we are out quiche and croissants. The quiche crust was a little over done for me, but the filling was so light and fluffy almost custard like. My croissant was amazing as well. Next time we are in town we will definitely be back.

There's a good variety of pastries and theyre all fantastic. The croissants are perfectly buttery and flaky. The cookies and brownies are also great, I haven't been disappointed yet! Be sure to get there early, closer to closing time they tend to sell out of a lot of things.
